GCN : GCN Update February 2010
Posted by neathleanan on 2010/2/2 22:52:57 (172 reads)

Hi all, last weekend saw the GCN AGM. Firstly I would like to thank everyone who participated either in person, or by submitting proxy votes. It is your organisation and it is important that everyone has a say in how it is run.

GCN AGM

The minutes for the GCN AGM are now available here. Among the many topics discussed, the most exciting is the prospect of the GCN running its own gaming show, initially in co-operation with COGS. More information to follow later in the year.

We also held the council elections, so the new council is:

President - Richard Kerry (Sad Muppet Society)
Vice President - Laurie Stewart (Leeds Night Owls)
Treasurer - Steve Nolan (Leeds Gaming Club)
Secretary - Gareth Williams (Chelmsford Bunker)
Promotions Officer - Dan Currey (Bracknell Forest Gamers)
Events Officer - Scott Miskin (Da Wot Notts)

In addition to all this, the updated Constitution (4.5) will be online shortly and will come in effect from the 30th March.

The Castalain

The latest issue of the GCN newsletter, the Castalain is now available to download from here. Enjoy!

And finally...

If anyone is interested in my random musings, I'm now on Twitter as Neathleanan.

Until next time, happy gaming!

Richard Kerry
President

As well as the normal GCN Update group, this Update has been sent to all the club email contacts we have on our database. If you wish to receive the monthly GCN Update, please subscribe using the link on the website (www.gamingclubnetwork.org).

2010 AGM & Council Elections

The GCN AGM will be held on the 30th January at Warhammer World. The official notice and election slips will be forwarded to clubs later this month. The closing date for council nominations is the 20th December and this should be sent to the GCN Secretary Gareth Williams (secretary@gamingclubnetwork.org).

As of today the following candidates are standing:
- President: Richard Kerry (The Sad Muppet Society), Si Crocker
- Vice President: Laurie Stewart (Leeds Night Owls)
- Treasurer: Steve Nolan (Leeds Games Club)
- Secretary: Gareth Williams (Chelmsford Bunker)
- Promotions Officer: Dan Currey (Bracknell Forest Gamers)

There will be more information about the elections, including statements from the candidates, on the website over the next couple of weeks.

Promotions Officer

Si Crocker has resigned from the role of Promotions Officer (Castalain of the Watch) with immediate effect. The Council would like to extend its gratitude for Si's time, effort and hard work for the GCN and community. The position will remain vacant until the AGM and Council Elections in January. In the meantime Laurie Stewart will take over the majority of Si's responsibilities.

Hi all, we have been very busy in the past month...

Member Clubs

I'm happy to announce that after our update in July, we have managing to bring almost fifty clubs back to full member status, making a total of eighty full member clubs in the network.

New Council Members

At the EGM, Scott Miskin from Da Wot Notts was voted in/ratified as Events Co-ordinator (Castalain of the Sword), and in the following council meeting Gareth Williams from Chelmsford Bunker was co-optedas Secretary (Castalain of the Seal). I would like to wish them both luck with their new positions!

New Knights

I would like to welcome James Karch (from Spikyclub in Reading), Tony Barnes (from COGS in Chesterfield), and Mark Coulter and Joseph Lawrie (from Northimbrian Adventurers' Guild) on board as our latest GCN Knights. Good luck guys!

If anyone would like to know more about becoming a GCN Knight please contact me or look at the Volunteer Guide for more info.

The Web Team

Darren Wadland (from Chelmsford Bunker) has added two new developers to his web team, Ben Wagner (from York Garrison) and Jonathon Taylor-Yorke (from Coppull and Chorley Knights). As we speak this guys are working on a revamped website for the Gaming Club Network which should be live before the end of the year.

EGM

The EGM called on the 25th October has come and gone, and has raised some interesting questions. Two of these, The Future Direction of the GCN and the Role of the GCN Knights have been added as discussion points in the GCN Forum so if you have something to add on either topic, please dive in.

The minutes for the meeting itself are currently being worked on and should be available to download shortly.

GCN Update
