Mortal Kombat 11 – Fascinating Series

Which gamers have never heard of the name Mortal Kombat before? Regardless of whether you like fighting games or not, this one name does have an undeniable popularity in the gaming industry. Consistently uncompromising, its image as a fighting game that accentuates brutality as the main selling point continues to survive across generations of consoles. You might think that at one point, this would end up boring and no longer interesting, especially considering that violence is no longer something strange in today’s modern games. But Mortal Kombat itself continues to evolve. The peak is now on the shoulders of Mortal Kombat 11 which received a positive reception from various media, but provoked its own criticism from the fans.

Like the name and number behind him, Mortal Kombat 11 is a direct sequel to Mortal Kombat X which was released to the market a few years ago. The Earthrealm seemed to be at the peak of victory after Raiden’s success subdued not only Shao Khan, but also Shinnok. Mortal Kombat X closes with the figure of Raiden who now looks antagonistic with ambition not only to protect the Earthrealm, but will begin to root out any party he sees as a potential new threat.

So as can be predicted, this “eternal” victory of the Earthrealm certainly does not last long. A mysterious figure named Kronika appeared and ambitious to reverse all the things that Raiden had achieved so far, including his struggle to win the Earthrealm and kill Shinnok. This action was seen by the Kronika as a troublemaker of the balance of darkness and light which he said was essential. To achieve the main mission, the Kronika intends to combine all the timelines into a new timeline, starting everything again from the beginning.

Still using the all-modified Unreal Engine 3, Mortal Kombat 11 must be acknowledged, looking stunning in terms of visual presentation. That it’s almost the same as what they managed to achieve with Injustice 2 some time ago, it presents a visual taste that is ready to make your eyes spoiled. The cinematic presentation of Hollywood films for Story mode works as it should, with a cut-scene that is not only filled with dialogue, but also an extraordinarily stunning battle scene. With a face reaction that still feels alive and a charming camera angle, you will fall in love with one of Netherrealm Studios’s main strengths. A standard that should be followed by fighting games in the future that still intend to offer the side of the story in it (Dead or Alive 6, note!).

While for matters of sound management, music must be admitted, never being the main foundation of a series of Mortal Kombat. Although the selected music counts quite well in a variety of promotional materials before the release, especially the trailers, the same sentiment will not be shared for the release in this final version. You will not meet unexpectedly memorable music. But the quality of the other sound systems such as the sound effects for broken bones or destroyed organs comes with the presentation that should, making cruelty now also pass through your ears as well. The quality of voice acting for Story mode and just the interaction between unique characters at the beginning of the battle also feels natural. At least, from this one side, there is nothing to worry about.

But it still must be admitted, Netherrealm Studios performed an excellent task with Mortal Kombat 11 itself. The quality of captivating visualization, especially from design and detail, is getting more fantastic with brutal commitment that still does not know the word compromise. You could even say, he rose to a new level.

If you include gamers who have tasted Mortal Kombat X or Injustice 2, you don’t seem to be familiar with the mechanics offered by Netherrealm Studios for Mortal Kombat 11. The offered character roster may look small, but if combined with the fact that each character is supported with at least two variants each of which has a different type of attack and focus, “Roster” characters that you can actually use vary. Plus, at Mortal Kombat 11, you are also given the opportunity to mix your own “variant”, with the opportunity to choose and combine your favorite special attacks. So even though it’s not like MKX which comes with three variants for each character, Mortal Kombat 11 still appears as a more flexible series.

The fighting system also still reminds you of the supposed Mortal Kombat battle sensation. The biggest key lies in trying to execute a long combination attack for large damage output, while learning when the right timing is to appear full of attack, defense, or trying to gain a little profit through Mortal Kombat’s “iconic” jump attack. Old systems such as the opportunity to use various objects in the environment are now also returning, complete with a more dramatic attack effect. With class specialization for each roster, whether it comes as a default or your own formula, there are many things you need to learn. Fortunately, Mortal Kombat 11 also provides separate tutorial sessions to help you.

So from the basic mechanical side, Mortal Kombat 11 is not exactly different from the previous Mortal Kombat series. Indeed there is something new and different through the implementation of a new system such as Fatal Blow, the opportunity to mix variants of each existing roster via the offered customization feature, to new attack animations that need adjustments, but he is still a fighting game that you know. A fighting game that requires you to learn the attack of a long combination of super effective massive damage on every occasion.

Being the reason for continuing to fight at Mortal Kombat 11 after a story mode that is not exactly long is a dream to build and strengthen your favorite character. Just as they have implemented in Injustice 2, each character that is carried has dozens of types of cosmetic costumes, Gear that affect gameplay, Variation Icon, until different opening and closing animations to be opened. To be able to open everything, you certainly have to collect at least 3 different resources – Koins, Soul Fragment, and Heart to get it. Besides of course, there are a number of quests that will instantly reward you various items.

Mortal Kombat 11 again brought the Krypt concept, but now with a different approach. The opportunity to explore more in the Mortal Kombat world is now implemented like a third person action game. Divided into several large areas, it will contain a variety of chests and items that you can open to get essential loots such as cosmetic items and gear that can be used for any character that is available. Some can be paid with Koins, while others need Soul Fragment or Hearts. The content itself appears random, so the only way to chase your target item is simply to open as many chests as possible and hope that it ends up strengthening or beautifying your favorite characters. This process is one reason you will continue to play Mortal Kombat 11.

This group battle system is also reflected through the Tag Team Battle which actually carries the same essence. But unlike the Group Battle which contains 3 users, the Tag Team only contains 2 people without a buff at all. The level of difficulty faced by enemies is not “as crazy” as the Battle Group, but still offers its own challenges. As the name suggests, Tag Team Battle allows users to switch to other users whenever they want, with users who rest will get regular HP regeneration. You of course have to be prepared to enter and exit at any time, since there is no communication format outside of voice chat for the users involved. Given that most gamers do not use mics, communication is indeed a problem in this MK 11 group mode. It is not uncommon for us to feel frustrated to see users not using buffs in the Battle Group and just sitting quietly seeing members of their team being hit by violent AI Mortal Kombat 11 needs to inject an emoticon system or an instant reaction with content is more essential to overcome this.

Mortal Kombat 11 is actually a fascinating series, even worthy of being called one of the best Mortal Kombat series in this franchise’s long history. Netherrealm Studios seems to understand what made this brutal fighting game so loved, making it more modern with charming quality visualization that is also supported by the design of pampering the eyes, from fighting levels to dozens of costumes for each character, and presenting several innovations such as Fatal Blow which are significant up to RAID group battle system which surprisingly turns out to be implemented in a fighting game.
